I hope this post finds you all doing well!
First off, Wollaita has POWER!!!! It was up and running on Friday, but had a few glitches the next day. Since then, it has been back to normal. Such a relief for everyone.
This last weekend I took Abiti and Bereket to Awassa. They had a ball! We ate fish, fed HUGE birds, saw the hippos & monkeys and went swimming. One of the buildings we went into had an elevator. The boys loved it! They wanted to take a trip to the capital so we could find all the elevators and ride them! Now that would be one EXCITING trip. If anyone would like to volunteer to do this, let me know. 😉
Yesterday, was the weekly shower and lunch with the street boys. I am happy to announce that for the first time four GIRLS were there!!! I was so excited. They don’t live on the streets, but they said they come from poor families. I don’t know exactly how many kids showed up, but it was about 60-70. I had no clue that many would show up, so I ran out of clothes and food. Oops! I am going to be busy this week preparing for next week!!
I have not forgotten about the water project! It is still in process. I do know that you will be providing two large tanks. They think this will be enough storage for when we don’t have running water. I will keep you updated as more happens.
A big transition is about to happen for me. I will be finishing my year at Otona Hospital the end of March. A year has flown by and I am going to miss everyone there. I feel so torn. I am excited to be working at the Christian hospital, but at the same time not wanting to leave Otona. I am hoping to continue to work at Otona some, I just don’t know what that will look like in the end.
Thank you so much for all that you have done! I sent out thank you cards to everyone yesterday for any donations from November to January. If you do not get one in the next 3 weeks, please let me know because I want to make sure there wasn’t a problem with the funds getting into the account.
Those boys look so happy! You are helping so many kids and families with your work. Thanks for all the updates
That’s one of my favorite pics of the boys! So great!! Praying for you and your year-end transition and the next weekly lunch (with lots of girls again).
Hi – I’d like to help support your meals and showers for kids. We’re not wealthy, but would like to donate a bit if we can. How would I do so?
On the right hand side of the blog is an address or a link to donate. THANK YOU!!!
Hi Dr. Hail – I have my package of 100 hats ready to go to you in Soddo – where should I send them and to whom should I address the package. Sorry you won’t be there to receive them but hoping they can be used by the hospital for the babies! Julie Snell
